Washing your furniture slipcovers in the washing machine makes keeping them looking new and fresh as simple as it gets. This is one of the big benefits to using a slipcover on any of your furniture. That being the case, there is some things to look for in getting them cleaned the best way possible.
First, make sure you wash them on the cold water setting only. You do not want to use hot water. I would also recommend using the gentle cycle. Use your clothes detergent as you would for a normal load of laundry, but be sure you never use bleach. That’s pretty obvious, but I have to mention it.
As far as drying goes, I would always put them outside and let them air dry. Some fabrics can be put in the dryer and set to tumble dry on low heat, but I am always wary of this because of shrinkage. It’s one of those things where you don’t get a second chance. Unless you are positive your fabric will not shrink I would let it air dry. That’s really all there is to washing your slipcovers.
