The fact that the performance of dividend stocks has attracted heated debates, arguments and counter arguments is proof enough that the trends have began to worry some stake- holders on the market. Arguments and statistics continue to be churned out as to what the latest dividend investing portends for the market. One common and popularized segment is the data and analysis about the performance of dividend stocks during the bear markets compared to bull market periods. These are periods when markets rise and fall owing to the general performance of economies around the globe. It is, in the layman’s term the slump and boom periods in world economy. All arguments considered; it is also true that the dividend stocks have held their own ground for along time, especially if one was to consider the average comparative performance for a longer period, say from 1958 to the present time.
